School District Sponsors Parents As Partners And Leaders
The West Contra Costa Unified School District is sponsoring the 10th annual Parents As Partners And Leaders Conference from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at the Lovonya DeJean Middle School, 3400 Macdonald Ave.

The event will feature more than 25 different workshops and a community resource fair. Workshop topics will include college readiness, preventing gang involvement, preventing bullying, keeping your child safe using the Internet, and more.

Downtown Arts Reception Showcases Local Photographers
Richmond Main Street Initiative and the Richmond Arts And Culture Commission will sponsor a reception for the Art In Windows Spring 2016 exhibit from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at 402 Harbor Way.
The exhibit will feature photography by Josue Hernandez, Saida Hogan Nassirruddin, Marni Temple, Carnell Rogers and Robert Ellison from the Elders Learning Community.
Guests can meet the artists, stroll through downtown to view the exhibit, survey the public art in the neighborhood and enjoy light refreshments and a no-host wine bar.
The art walk will depart the Richmond Main Street Office at 4:45 p.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. The exhibit will remain on display through the end of the summer.

Greenway Volunteer Cleanup Scheduled
Rich City Rides will sponsor its monthly volunteer park cleanup on the Richmond Greenway from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9. Volunteers can meet at Second Street between Ohio and Chanslor avenues on the Richmond Greenway.

Celebrate Earth Day on April 23
Celebrate the Earth and Richmond’s local community during the sixth annual North Richmond Green Festival and Earth Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the ball field on Fred Jackson Way and Pittsburg Avenue.
The event will feature free food, live music, a petting zoo, eco-art activities, a farmers market and a community resource fair.
In addition to the festival, volunteers are needed for the Wildcat Creek clean up as well as improvements to the Verde Elementary School garden. Volunteers will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. at Verde Elementary, 2000 Giaramita St.
