Dirt World Bike Skills Park Grand Opening

Saturday, Sept. 1

The new Dirt World Bike Skills Park will be holding its grand opening from 10 a.m. to sundown on Saturday, Sept. 1. Dirt World is located next to the McVittie Post Office Annex, between Chanslor and Ohio avenues and 20th and 23rd streets.

The event will have a bike raffle, games, food, music, and of course awesome riding opportunities for riders throughout Richmond and the East Bay. For more information visit the Dirt World Bike Skills Park facebook page or dirtworld.org

Richmond’s Spirit and Soul Return

Saturday, Sept. 15

Richmond’s annual Spirit and Soul Festival returns for it’s 10th year from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018.

From Harbour Way to 13th Street, Richmond’s Macdonald Avenue will be filled with food, artisan vendors and two stages of live music. A Salute to Soul tribute lineup takes on the main stage with performances by Ray McCoy with a Luther Vandross tribute, 1st Avenue Revue as the Bay Area’s No. 1 Prince tribute band, and Nicole “But-tah Buttafly” performing an Aretha Franklin tribute.

Entrance to the event is free for all with food trucks, vendors and a youth zone. For the VIP experience in the beverage pavilion, pre-sale tickets are $20 and $25 at the event.

Last Man Standing Boxing event with RPAL

Saturday, Sept. 15

The Richmond Police Activities League and John Island Boxing and Development will host Last Man Standing Boxing on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the RPAL Center, 2200 Macdonald Ave. Doors open at 1 p.m. and boxing begins at 2 p.m., along with food and raffles. Coastal Cleanup Day

Saturday, Sept. 15

Take part in the annual Coastal Clean Up Day at both Shimada Friendship Park and Urban Tilth’s North Richmond Farm on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The Watershed Project will be working at Shimada Friendship Park from 9 a.m. to noon.  Volunteers are asked to bring their own reusable bucket and gloves, and must sign a waiver. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, email coastalcleanup@thewatershedproject.org

Urban Tilth will be cleaning up their North Richmond Farm at 323 Brookside Dr., from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will be removing trash and debris from drainage swales along Fred Jackson Way which affect the Wildcat and San Pablo Creek ecosystems.  Volunteers are asked to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes as well as bring water. Snacks, tools and gloves will be provided. •
