Richmond Ferry Services Launch at Craneway Pavilion

Richmond will soon be on the San Francisco Ferry System’s weekday destination list.
The new ferry service will be connecting commuters to San Francisco with four planned weekday trips to San Francisco during morning commute hours and four trips to Richmond during evening commute hours. There will also be two reverse commute services during these times as well.
To celebrate the new launch, the Richmond ferry service will provide music and refreshments — along with ferry rides along the harbor — from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Craneway pavilion.
Martin Luther King National Day of Service Across Richmond
Monday, Jan. 21
The Friends of Richmond Greenway and the City of Richmond will be honoring the life and service of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for its 12th annual day of service.
Service projects will take place from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m., followed by a moment of silence and celebration from noon to 2 p.m., all along the Richmond Greenway at 6th Street, 8th Street, 16th Street and Carlson Boulevard.
Work will begin at Unity Park, at the intersection of 16th Street and Ohio Avenue, and continue along the greenway. Tools, gloves and water will be provided though volunteers are welcome to bring their own as well, especially a reusable water bottle.
All volunteers must sign a waiver before beginning work. Children are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult and have a waiver signed by their legal guardian.
Organizers encourage groups to pre-registers, as space is limited. The event is free to all and can also count for Community Service Hours.
MLK Day of Service at Dirt World
Monday, Jan. 21
Also in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dirt World Bike Park will be hosting its own day of service from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the park on 20th Street between Ohio Avenue and the Richmond Greenway Trail.
Volunteers will be cleaning the space, weeding and anything else that may be needed, namely repairing and maintaining the tracks and jumps.
The organizers will supply all the tools needed, and only ask that volunteers bring good energy and a drive to improve the park.

Have questions about the latest developments in public education?
The West Contra Costa County Education Fair will offer opportunities to learn more about a variety of educational topics, including transfer processes for schools, summer programs, immigration-related “Know Your Rights” workshops, de-escalation training, afterschool programs, outdoor education programs, adult education programs and more.
It’s being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Richmond Civic Center Memorial Auditorium.
Over 50 schools and nonprofits will be available to provide information regarding the different education opportunities available in West Contra Costa County.
The event is free to the public and will include food, prize giveaways from the Warriors Foundation, and guest performances by Alma Latina, Danza Tonatzi and Bright Futures Growth and Development Center.
