21 Jun Te’s Corner: To the Ones Who Sowed the Seeds and Stayed
(Photo by Gift Habeshaw on Unsplash)
Poetry, Donté Clark
We can not forget
to tell of the ones who sowed
the seeds and stayed
to watch them grow. who fought cried and died for our freedom when the world would never show.
whose hands are worked and callous
numb from building kingdoms
and passing down legacy.
who selflessly guard
the wombs
where blackberries bloom
tender and ripe from pregnancy. blessed be
men
whose eyes
are as sunset folding
into a gentle night
between the cheekbone of crescent moon
who soothes his plight.
To all my brothers out there, Happy Father’s Day!
