Antioch police shot and killed a man Monday morning when he allegedly rushed at officers with a knife.

Police responded at 7:15 a.m. to a 911 call from the 3800 block of Osprey Drive, where a man had threatened to kill everyone in the home.

When officers arrived, police said the man ran at them with a knife. Police shot the man, then provided aid to him, but the suspect died at the scene.

Police asked people to stay clear of the area Monday afternoon during their investigation. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office will conduct the criminal investigation.

Anyone with information about the case can contact Detective Cox at jcox@antiochca.gov.
