The Richmond Fire Department reported intermittent flaring from the Chevron Richmond Refinery on Friday morning.

In a message to the community sent out at about 8:30 a.m., Richmond fire officials said Chevron staff confirmed that the intermittent flaring is due to “internal operational issues and is currently being addressed.”

Fire officials called it a “Level 1 Hazmat” notification and said no action is required from the community.
